Mahnaz Yazdani chooses to see the humor in tight and tense situations. “I have become increasingly nonpartisan over the course of my life,” writes the Iranian cartoonist. “I’ve seen enough at this point to know that both sides are populated by leaders who are less interested in the facts and more interested in defending their righteous positions. There are no resolutions any more; only fractured truth. And that is comical to me.”
